A Gwynedd supermarket has come up with a catchy way of reminding customers to keep their distance during the lockdown.

Staff at Iceland in Pwllheli have reworked the Toy Story classic You’ve Got a Friend in Me by Randy Newman to remind customers they are still open and the new safety measures put in place to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The manager of the store sang the reworked lyrics to remind customers of the two-metre rule and show hazard tape on the shop floor, reminding customers to keep their distance.

The store team all appear in the two-minute video, which you can watch below, reminding shoppers to be kind to them during these difficult times.

The employees shared the video on their Facebook page and captioned it with “a bit of fun to brighten your day”.

Iceland managing director Richard Walker was impressed with the team’s work, tweeting: “Absolutely brilliant video from our Pwllheli store, with vocals from the manager!”

As well as opening early for elderly shoppers to pick up essentials, the Pwllheli store will also be open from 5pm until 6pm each evening for NHS staff.
