Madam,

I appreciate the response to my letter but sheep faeces of any condition should never be allowed where food is being cooked and eaten, and where little children could put it in their mouths. This is simple hygienic common sense.

I lived in Llanon when I was a child and it was wonderful to be able to visit the village again. I, and others I talked with during my visit, are very glad that the new community council is doing now what should have been done long ago in campaigning for better road safety and junctions in Llanon, for speed cameras, and for a pedestrian crossing like the one in Aberarth, especially as Llanon has an old people’s home, sheltered housing, a village shop, and a primary school.

Finally, Llanon has a number of very beautiful footpaths along its ancient slangs, but a number of visitors including me were horrified by the state of the footpath along the River Peris.

Walking up from Llansantffraid, first there were rusty sheds and a dilapidated tractor, and later piles of tyres and broken machinery. When I lived in Llanon as a child, there used to be plenty of fish in the river, no wonder there is none now with all the junk around it. This would not be allowed where I lived and it gives Llanon a very bad image.

I hope everyone supports the new community council which is doing a lot to improve a historic village with close links to our patron saint of Wales, and I hope I will be able to visit again soon.

Yours etc, Alun Walker, Tonypandy.
