A BARMOUTH surgery has thanked its staff and patients after administering over 250 coronavirus vaccinations in a single day, despite the bad weather brought on by Storm Christoph.
Commenting on the incredible feat, which took place on 20 January, a spokesperson for Minfor Surgery on Park Road, said: “Thank you to all the team and patients who attended the coronavirus vaccination clinic at Barmouth Leisure Centre .
“Despite the floods and bad weather, we successfully administered over 250 vaccinations.
“Well done everyone!”
Barmouth mayor, Cllr Katie Price, praised the hard work of the surgery and reminded people to give as much notice as possible when cancelling vaccination appointments.
She said: “It is indeed a great start to the vaccine programme.
“The Minfor Surgery team has worked really hard over the last couple of weeks to get the local clinic in place and up and running.
“This is one of the first steps to getting our community back to a new normal, and I thank Sean, Carys and the rest of the team for all they are doing.
“As with all appointments, it’s important to remember to attend or cancel with as much notice as possible so that the appointment can be passed to another patient, and no vaccine is wasted.”
Ffion Johnstone, area director West, said: “Our colleagues in primary care across North Wales are playing a huge part in the rollout of vaccinations for Covid-19.
“All 98 GP surgeries in the region are now part of the vaccine rollout.
“71 practices had already started to administer the vaccine at the start of the week, with the remaining practices due to take delivery of the vaccine this week, in addition to the mass vaccination centres which are also available.
“We aim for all people aged over 80 to have had their first dose of the vaccine by the end of next week.”
