A pair of mums from Harlech have set up a free group to encourage others to explore the joys of cold water swimming.

Launched in March, Wild Swim Snowdonia is free and available to anyone living locally.

Swim locations will vary across north Wales, with swims taking place monthly throughout all seasons.

Wild Swim Snowdonia was formed by Laura Sanderson and Meg Pugh.

Both mothers in their 30s, Laura and Meg have found their discovery of cold water swimming beneficial for their own health and wellbeing and now want others to experience the benefits as well.

Laura said: “The benefits of wild swimming are endless.

“It boosts your circulation and immune system, which then improves your overall health and wellbeing.

“I started swimming in the sea after health complications last year and it really helped with inflammation.

“Wild swimming just makes you feel so alive that I think the activity itself helps motivate you to think more about your health, nutrition and fitness.

“The afterglow you get from cold water swimming literally stays with you until your next swim!”

Swimmers take part at their own risk. From May 2019, Wild Swim Snowdonia will also be offering guided wild swims to visitors.
