I often visit North Wales not just for the wonderful scenery but because I have always found the people to be friendly, welcoming and fair. Unfortunately this impression was somewhat dented on my last visit to Dolgellau.
I parked in the street where we had rented a cottage for the week and found the following morning I had a parking notice for overstaying the time. I had not realised this was restricted as the yellow line was barely visible.
As we were staying for a whole week, I was also able to observe that none of the residents’ cars received parking notices even though they were parked in the same spot, sometimes nearly 24/7.
As there doesn’t seem to be a residents’ permit system there must be an ad hoc rule that visitors only are singled out for receiving parking fines.
The local council need to either put down some visible yellow lines or introduce a legal residents’ parking system.
Thank you to everyone else in Dolgellau for a lovely holiday.
