A local community has rallied behind a Llyn hairdresser after she received a shock cancer diagnosis.
Twenty-three-year-old Ceri Haf Sansome from Llanbedrog was diagnosed with lymphoma in April after suffering with months of breathlessness and heart palpitations.
After learning of the diagnosis, members of Pwllheli Football Club decided to help Ceri and last weekend donned fancy dress to take part in a charity bike ride.
In all, 25 members of the team and committee set off from Pwllheli and headed to Porthmadog and back, covering 26 miles, to raise money for Ceri, whose partner Jamie Banks is a midfielder for the club.
Proceeds will go to ‘Cronfa Ceri’, which has been set up to help Ceri as she undergoes gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, which will mean she will not be able to work.
The team is currently counting the money collected, but estimate they managed to raise over £2,000.
Ceri spoke of her gratitude this week, saying: “I was quite shocked by all the support. It’s nice to know that people are behind you and that people care.”
