AN INSPIRATIONAL athlete with a terminal condition is taking on a gruelling all-day crosscountry challenge to raise money for charity.

Steffan Owen, 37, of Barmouth, suffers from a brain tumour, which he has been told will eventually kill him.

Experts believe he has between seven and 15 years to live.

However, despite his medical ordeal, father-of-three Steffan is still determined to live his life to the fullest and has helped raise thousands of pounds for Liverpool’s Walton Centre, which has treated him over recent years.

Since his diagnosis, Steffan has completed numerous half-marathons, long-distance runs and fell races after he was urged to stop playing contact sport by his doctors, catching the ‘running bug’ as a result.

For this event, however, Steffan, who is expecting his fourth child with fiancée Leah in the near future, will be setting up his own taxing running event to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity.

“On 1 April, I’m going to attempt to run from dawn until dusk around the half marathon course at Coed y Brenin to raise money for a worthy charity,” he told the Cambrian News.
