Madam,

Ceredigion County Council has released a post on its website, heralding a new dawn for Cylch Caron Extra Care Housing scheme in Tregaron. They, and the other scheme partners Hywel Dda University Health Board, Mid Wales Housing and the Welsh Government, are able to announce that WRW, who built Aberystwyth Fire Station, have been appointed as contractors.

Thanks for this Ceredigion County Council, it has really cheered up my day.

Described as “impressive” in the county council statement, Cylch Caron is outstanding in its field; except it isn’t, there is nothing in its field, neither a brick nor a plank.

Julie James AM persists in her delusion that this is an excellent use of Integrated Care Funds; I have heard the figure of £16m bandied about; £16m for an empty field doesn’t sound like a good use to me when it could have gone into other projects around the nation.

I love the use of irony that Cllr Hughes employs when she talks of ‘early intervention’ given that the project has been active since 2006.

Once again we have reached the stage where another detailed set of plans are to be drawn up. Will these take account of the size of the project, the right part of the field and the fact that it slopes?

Local history tells of an elephant being buried behind the Talbot Hotel. The contract of the sale of land for Cylch Caron stipulates that if the elephant‘s remains are found they remain the property of the field’s previous owners. I hope they find elephant’s remains, as the council will be pleased to know that it hasn’t been in the council chamber all this time.

Yours etc, George Holloway Rhoshendre, Waunfawr, Aberystwyth.
