Madam,
I was astounded to read some of the recent comments of Felix Aubel in the Cambrian News.
We were told by him and his fellow Brexiteers that if we voted to leave the Europere they belong, within Parliament.
Surely this is what the High Couean Union decision-making powers would be brought back to whrt has confirmed, that decisions of such fundamental importance to the future of Britain and its citizens should be scrutinised by Parliament, our sovereign law-making institution?
Why should Felix object to this? Once again, his arguments illustrate the falsehoods upon which he and others ‘persuaded’ the British Electorate to vote ‘Leave’ in the recent Referendum.
Felix has said that workers’ rights would be enhanced in Britain post-Brexit.
Others told us, and I didn’t hear any disagreement from Felix, that £350m extra per week would be available for the NHS, that Wales would continue to get the equivalent amounts of EU Structural Funding and that we would all become richer as a result.
These and many other ‘Vote Leave’ promises have now been shown to have been somewhat economical with the truth. Of course what our local Brexiteer knows is that, as the falsehoods are now revealed to the electorate, if the Referendum was held today he would be on the losing side.
Yours etc,
Mark Rees, Clos Sulien, Cae Ceredig, Llanbadarn Fawr, Aberystwyth.
