A cyclist has died in hospital following a serious crash on the A493 road in Arthog, near Fairbourne.
The 30-year-old cyclist was in collision with a Honda CRV that was towing a caravan, shortly before 1.30pm on Sunday, 11 August.
North Wales Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service were called to the scene, and the road was closed for several hours after the accident.
Wales Air Ambulance was called shortly after that to assist paramedics and the cyclist was airlifted to hospital in Stoke-on-Trent, where he died during the early hours of the morning on Monday, 12 August.
A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called on Sunday, 11 August at approximately 1.26pm to reports of a collision between a cyclist and vehicle in Arthog.
“We responded with one rapid response vehicle, two emergency ambulances and we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance. One patient was transported by air ambulance to University of North Staffordshire City Hospital, Stoke.”
Sergeant Meurig Jones of the Roads Policing Unit has sent out an appeal for anybody who may have witnessed the crash or has any information to inform the police. He said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this incredibly difficult time.
“We are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who may have seen the cyclist just prior to the collision to come forward.
“Our investigation is underway and anybody who may be able to assist is urged to contact us on 101 or via our live web chat quoting reference X115603.”
