In March 2020 we were confronted by a public health crisis of unknown magnitude and outcome. The establishment of Gold Command at Ceredigion Council made sense.
It allowed for rapid response and decisive action. The relatively low rate of Covid-19 in Ceredigion is a testament to the hard work and professionalism of our council executive officers and their staff, and we owe them a great deal of gratitude.
Despite reaching tier zero alert level, the role of Gold Command is not being reviewed until the end of August.
It looks increasingly as though we are going to have to live with Covid, and so defining the end of this crisis will be difficult. As we learn to live in our post pandemic world, public consent for new rules that govern our lives, is absolutely critical.
Our governance at all levels must focus on doing the greatest good for the greatest number.Democratic accountability is the only way to ensure this happens.
Ceredigion Conservatives agree with Cllr Ceredig Davies; it is time for our elected representatives to take back control of our council.
