Councillors have agreed to open parks in Aberystwyth for a limited amount of time each week.
Following a meeting on Monday evening, Aberystwyth town councillors have agreed to open Plascrug playground on weekdays between 10am and 2pm and keep the park open at weekends.
Castle Park playground will also be opened between 10am and 2pm on weekdays but will be closed over the weekend.
Penparcau playground will have no restrictions and will remain open to the public.
Speaking following the meeting, Cllr Alex Mangold, who has long campaigned for the reopening of playgrounds in Aberystwyth, said: “I was able to convince town council to keep playgrounds open.
“But due to the phased return of foundation phase children to school this week and next, they will only be open for a limited time each day.
“Some councillors were very worried that a full opening would go counter to the county councils’ plans (regarding small bubbles in schools and a staggered return).
“They only agreed to a compromise on the condition that schools in the area would be consulted again.
“I am of course disappointed that playground use will be restricted for the time being.
“But I will continue to make the case that all playgrounds should be opened as soon as possible.
“The situation will be reviewed at full council next month.”
