Two Tywyn toilets have been twinned with loos across the world to raise awareness.

Tywyn Baptist Church announced this week that thanks to the co-operation of the proprietors of The Magic Lantern Cinema and The Victorian Slipway, two more Tywyn toilets have been twinned under the auspices of the Toilet Twinning charity.

One of the twinned toilets is in Afghanistan and the other in Malawi, and customers will shortly notice the appropriate certificate displayed in each establishment.

Together with Salt Marsh Café Bar, the first business to twin, and four toilets at the church itself, these latest twinnings make a total of seven twinned toilets in the town.

The Slipway has since raised money to twin both the ladies and gents upstairs at the premises, plus enough money to twin another toilet in Tywyn.

Toilet Twinning aims to tackle the serious global problem of approximately 2.3 billion people not having a loo.

The charity raises funds via the twinning fee, to enable those living in poor communities to have a hygienic and safe latrine, clean water, basic sanitation, and to learn about hygiene education.
