Welsh Lady Preserves in Y Ffôr, Pwllheli, had plenty of reasons for celebration after winning at the 2019 Co-op Welsh Supplier Awards.
The small company, which employs a total of 23, is well-known around the world and co-owner Carol Jones has jetted to many countries around to exhibit and promote their wonderful and tasty preserves.
Welsh Lady, who supply Co-op with three products – Farmer Jones Relish, Strawberry Jam and their famous Lemon Curd – picked up the ‘Grocery Product of the Year’ award.
Carol decided to put forward their flagship award-winning Lemon Curd for the first ever Co-op Wales Awards and it proved the right decision when they won the category which was judged by Anglesey chef Ellis Barrie of The Marram Grass.
In fact, it was the Lemon Curd which was the product which started off this award-winning business back in 1966 and has previously won the Supreme Champion at the Great Taste Awards.
The Co-op awards held at Portland House, Cardiff, were attended by both Carol and her daughter Hannah, who has recently joined the family company and now operates as the accounts manager. She has worked in London for the last two years before joining up with the team at Welsh Lady Preserves.
