Madam,
Pixi Sabine Saergel and Sally George encourage debate about overpopulation (‘Don’t ignore overpopulation’). Our Tory government would certainly encourage it, for it chimes so conveniently with their two-child limit of benefit support, which curtails demand upon the one thing that Tories have always monopolised, land.
It was assessed 40 years ago that, if every family in the world had six acres of land, that usage would not exhaust the land in North America. As a shrewd business lady said to me at that time: “They stopped making land a long time ago.”
As a social class, the Tories long ago ensured they cornered that market. Shrewd, acquisitive, and above all greedy, they hoard their large estates whilst building ever smaller houses for the masses, as they simultaneously plead land shortage and overpopulation.
I am astounded that my country has been so supine in the face of a social policy that can penalise young children in such a cruel way. As Nye Bevan said: “They (the Tories) are lower than vermin”.
Yours etc, Roger Louvet, Porthmadog.
