Madam,

Tourist information centres are nice to have in times of plenty but when cuts must be made maybe they are not so high on the essential list.

Tourist attractions produce advertising leaflets which are on display in most large shops and supermarkets in the area and so are available to far more people and for longer opening hours than at the TICs.

Arriva Trains is a business and it is up to them, not the ratepayers, to finance selling their tickets (maybe they already do contribute to running the TICs). Similarly, hotels, B&Bs etc could pay towards the service but, as most people probably book accommodation on their computer before leaving home or use a smartphone when here, maybe this is no longer as important for visitors.

Any spare money would be far better spent keeping public toilets open for the benefit of tourists and ratepayers alike or even advertising this beautiful area in Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham to encourage more people to visit - and stay.

Yours etc
