Madam,

Because of the shortfall in the amount Gwynedd Council receives from the Welsh Assembly, there is talk of them saving money by removing all litter bins. There have also been threats of closure to public toilets in the area.

However, it is good to see that the Welsh Assembly has given £720,000 towards a new tourist attraction in Rhyl.

I just hope that the visitors it attracts don’t mind wading through streets covered in litter and don’t mind not being able to find a toilet when needed.

Would not the money have been better used by giving it to the councils to at least keep services going if not to improve them?

Yours etc,

Keith Barber, Llanbedr.
