CEREDIGION County Council could bid to win a share of funding for a pilot project to scrap parking fees in town centres, the council’s leader has said.

The Welsh Government’s draft budget includes £3m for a pilot scheme to scrap town centre parking fees under an agreement reached between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru.

The pilot would examine the impact on town centres if parking charges are not in place.

While there have been no details released about where and how the pilot project will operate, council leader Ellen ap Gwynn said she would be keen to see Ceredigion take part.

Meanwhile, Cabinet members have heard that there was an increase in parking income across the county.
