A LLWYNGWRIL woman has been elected to help decide the future of the Women’s Equality Party.

The party, which has nearly 50,000 members, describes itself as a new “collaborative force” in British politics uniting people to see women enjoy the same rights and opportunities as men - so that all can flourish.

Francesca Pridding (pictured), the clerk of Tywyn Town Council, was elected to the steering committee of the feminist party at a recent conference and will now form part of an executive group which will determine the direction the party takes.

Mrs Pridding, who has twin daughters, describes herself as “a strategist, a peace keeper, a budget planner, a negotiator, a recruiter and a debater”.

“I am looking for the opportunity to really make a difference to the lives of women in the world,” she said.

“I hope to help greater engagement with women who would not immediately identify themselves as feminists. I want to engage teenagers, however they identify, and develop strategies for dealing with 21st century challenges and help educate them in respecting everyone.

“I want to help develop communications and strategies that bring visible results, that get noticed across the country and in the rest of the world. The Women’s Equality Party is a wonderful vehicle for change and influence across the party spectrum.

“We’re breaking down doors every day. Let’s keep this momentum and demonstrate how change will be achieved, through compassion, intelligence and a persistence like the world has never seen.”
