Although Welsh is my first language, two letters that have appeared in the Cambrian News (Mrs S Pidgeon and Dr Clive Williams) during the last fortnight have encouraged me to write (in English) this letter. I refer to the standard of driving in Penrhyncoch.
Residents of the village of Llandre are experiencing the same problems. There is only one 30mph-limit sign in the village, which is ignored by many. The road over the hill to Borth has become a through road used by farm machinery, lorries, cars, motorbikes in large numbers, bicycles and large vans with no regard to speed, junctions or any other rule that should be applied.
Our narrow roads are not suitable for all this heavy traffic travelling at such speed. Sat-nav also sends large lorries up towards the church and then find that they have to reverse back all the way to the main road. All these points result in damage to property and endanger the lives and wellbeing of residents.
However I would like to show my gratitude to the local councillors who are willing to listen to our concerns. Let’s support them in their commitment in keeping us all safe.
Maybe in time we can see a sleeping policeman and more adequate signs at the junctions and slow signs before the bends etc. Then we can all feel safer here once again.
G Williams Llandre
