I refer to a Mountain Ash tree growing next door to us. It is right alongside a street light, at the very verge of the garden.
It is not a healthy specimen. I know little about ash die-back, but anyone can see that this tree is not in fulsome green, as other trees are at this time of year.
Nevertheless it is a constant source of annoyance, because it blocks the street light. The immediate neighbours, my husband, and myself are no longer young and lighting is important to us, especially in the darker months.
I first wrote to the tree owner many moons ago. My pleas fell on deaf ears. Since then I have written more than 25 letters and/ or emails across 30 years! They, too, have met with not a vestige of success. To date nothing worthwhile has happened regarding any action having been taken. Maybe, in writing this missive, someone who can do something positive will read it, and my patience plus persistence may yield a notable result.
