CHAIRWOMAN Ann Jones welcomed members and non-members to the Floral Art Demonstration for the month of May.

The exhortation was read in Welsh and English and a silent tribute was observed.

Sympathy was extended to Rhiannon Evans’ family.

Rhiannon had been a very faithful and a loyal member for many years, and will be sadly missed.

Our demonstrator for the evening was Glenys Morgan from Penrhyncoch.

She made five beautiful different displays and talked us through the different techniques and rules of flower arranging; she very kindly donated all five.

The monthly raffle was given by Elizabeth Cameron and was won by Bethan Bennett.

A vote of thanks was given by Delyth Jones.

Tea hostesses were Mary Lewis, Lyn Gealy, Margaret Evans and Ann Jones.

For the month of June, chairwoman Ann Jones welcomed all members, the exhortation and a silent tribute was observed.

Our guest for the evening was Mary Price, Llanwenog.

A three course meal was prepared.

These mouth-watering dishes were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Raffle was given by Bethan Bennett and won by Elizabeth Cameron.

Vote of thanks was given by Pat Jones and refreshments were prepared by Annis James, Ann Lewis, Anne Lloyd and Elizabeth Cameron.

Walking Club

THE next walk is scheduled for 10 September and is called ‘Snowdon – Summit, sunset and silence on Snowdon’ and the leader is Dafydd Wyn Morgan 01974 298 150.

Changing to a Saturday evening’s walk (with an option to stay overnight), this now annual ascent of Snowdon will be a breath of fresh air compared to recent morning ascents.

Making the most of a warm autumn’s evening we’ll take in a quiet summit and watch the sunset over Wales, Ireland and the North of England.

Head torches on and head back down carefully. Sunset at 19.36.

The walk is graded a grade C.

It is a hard walk which should last approximately six hours and is over a distance of nine miles with an ascent of 970ft / 970m.
