Married father-of-two, Malcolm Charles Thorpe, died on Ffordd Benar, the road leading to Benar Beach, last Thursday evening (19 January) after suffering an unexpected “medical episode”.
Emergency services were called shortly after 5pm and rushed to the scene but sadly, Malcolm was pronounced dead the scene.
The news of the 58-year-old’s sudden passing has shocked those close to him.
Hugh Roberts, who worked alongside Malcolm in the Meirionnydd District Council many years ago, said: “I knew Malcolm very well. I saw him just a few weeks ago and he was in fine spirit. The news of his death came as a complete surprise.
“I’ll always remember Malcolm had a delightful sense of humour and was an excellent footballer.
“He used to deal with household waste for the council and, whenever there were interdepartmental games, he’d be impossible to shift off the ball!
