Three generations of the same Aberaeron family who braved horrific weather to complete a mountain-climbing triple birthday challenge have raised over £6,000.

Nigel Bowen, his son Sion, and grandson Marc-Rhys took on the notorious Three Peaks Challenge in September and raised a total of £6,424 for Tanyfron Surgery.

The money will go towards buying a Doppler device used to assess vascular health and detect vascular issues.

The trio conquered Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 13 hours and 8 minutes on an epic undertaking which coincided with their respective 70th, 50th and 30th birthdays.

The original aim of the challenge had been to raise £2,500.

“A big thank you to all of the people who sponsored us,” the trio said. “We were overwhelmed with the response and are very, very grateful for each and every contribution.

“The target of £2,500 for the Doppler was far exceeded with a final total of £6,424. The remaining money will also be used by the surgery for the purchase of future equipment.”
