Madam,
Like many others, I demonstrated against Trump last week, here in north Wales. Someone needs to tell him Wales is a nation of the UK, for he seems to be unaware of our separate identity.
We should worry about him because his steel tariff will harm Welsh steel workers, the US being a big export market.
I doubt if our Prime Minister was brave enough to raise even that concern, never mind the very long charge sheet of even more disruptive, inhumane and dangerous policies since he took over in Washington.
By allowing herself to be bullied, May has shown herself to be a weak Prime Minister.
Trump’s comments, on the very day of his arrival here, about her, Boris Johnson and Brexit were out of order: insolence and blackmail directed at the elected leader of another country. Talk about political interference in the affairs of another country!
She should have refused to meet him. Indeed, why not one of those deportation orders so favoured by the president himself?
For those of us who are opposed to Brexit, the incident has only deepened fears of a hard Brexit world, where American presidents call the shots.
Yours etc,
Quentin Deakin, Corbett Avenue, Tywyn
