TWO Machynlleth farmers have taken to the road, hoping to reach Romania in a clapped out campervan.
Wil Hendreseifion and Aeron Pughe are travelling to the furthest and easternmost point of Europe.
Their journey can be seen in the television series, Wil ac Aeron: Taith Rwmania.
The two Welshmen will venture from the northern Carpathian mountains down to the fertile land of the south and the Danube Delta. They’ll discover the delights Romania has to offer, face a number of challenges and live life to the full with the locals.
The pair will also swap the van for a boat to visit the Danube Delta. It is an UNESCO site, which is a sanctuary to birds, wildlife habitats of all kinds and attracts tourists, sailors and fishermen.
And where there are anglers, there are poachers! The pair spend time with a group of fishermen – five brothers who make a living by challenging the rules.
After spending a night on patrol with the police looking for poachers, Wil and Aeron experience life on the other side of the fence.
“We received a fantastic welcome from the fishermen. We were a bit worried at the beginning as we saw these five hard looking brothers with huge arms,” said Aeron Pughe, one of three brothers who farm sheep and cattle on their parents’ farm near Darowen, Machynlleth.
He’s also known for playing pirate Ben Dant in the series for preschool children on S4C’s Cyw.
