ABERYSTWYTH University campuses at Penglais and Llanbadarn Fawr have both secured Green Flag status for 2017.
Keep Wales Tidy unveiled this year’s Green Flag Award winners – the international mark of a quality park or green space – last week.
In 2015, Penglais became the first university campus in Wales to achieve the Green Flag Award, and has held it each year since.
The university’s Llanbadarn campus won its first award last year.
Aberystwyth University received their awards by completing a management plan and being judged on the external areas of the campus, focusing on eight main criteria which include sustainability, conservation and heritage and community involvement.
Andrea Pennock, director of estates development at Aberystwyth University, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this fantastic accolade for the third year running.
“Our grounds and maintenance team work tirelessly to ensure students, staff and visitors can learn and work in a beautiful and safe environment; it’s great for them to get the recognition they deserve.”
Lucy Prisk, Green Flag coordinator at Keep Wales Tidy, said: “The Green Flag Award is all about connecting people with the very best parks and green spaces. Keep Wales Tidy is proud to run the scheme in Wales because we know having a good quality environment can have a big impact on our communities, health and well-being, and economy.
“I’d like to congratulate Aberystwyth University and thank everyone who works tirelessly to maintain the standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.
“I’d encourage everyone to get outdoors and explore the diverse range of fantastic facilities we have on our doorstep.”
