Rotary Club

THE ROTARY Club of Tywyn was delighted to host a presentation entitled Training for Life on Thursday, 4 February, by Barbara Vasey-Martindale, a highly qualified family therapist with over 20 years of experience and her own Life with a Smile counselling service in Tywyn since 2003.Barbara gave a fascinating and entertaining presentation of her work helping children to think in a positive and empowering way about themselves. With the aid of the Training for Life books about animals that Barbara has published, children are asked to create their own stories using animal pictures and trying to identify the animal’s “happy feeling” that they can then equate to themselves. Children respond extremely well to this ap-proach and it helps them find a path to self-esteem and confidence, Barbara said.At the meeting, Barbara displayed several lovely examples of the animal pictures that she uses for her books. As is the normal practice with guest speakers at club meetings, club president Stephanie Purcell presented Barbara with a cheque for £100 for her Training for Life project.
