Madam,

Some months ago, rather rapidly after our new health centre in Tywyn was opened, some letters appeared in your paper that were highly critical of it, and made me rather reluctant to attend should I need to.Unfortunately this has been the case this past two weeks and prompts my letter to you.

I just cannot see how anyone could write as they did. I am still amazed and so grateful for this new facility, and considering what a small town we are, think we are highly privileged to have use of such wonderful provision, especially in these financially challenging times.

How many health centres in the UK give patients beautiful views of the sea and surrounding countryside from their waiting room? This had obviously been taken into consideration too, as it could have been sited in a different way not giving this pleasure.

I can well understand people with wheelchairs, the infirm and those with pushchairs would have found the closed double doors difficult, but this has now been rectified, no doubt because the problems were pointed out to those in charge. Let us remember though that they also have to abide by fire regulations, so a juggling act for them. There are inevitably going to be teething problems with any new venture, so let’s allow those concerned to deal with them as swiftly as has already been apparent!

The whole layout seemed to me superb from all angles, and were I still nursing, I would be thrilled to work at such a centre.

Yours etc

Pamela M Worsey

Tywyn.
