Madam,
Plaid Cymru approaches both the Assembly Election on 5 May and the European Union referendum on 23 June with innovative and robust plans to improve people’s health and standards of living in Wales. We have our roots in these communities: we know how European funding has brought millions of pounds of investment to our towns and villages in terms of enterprises and jobs. We know how the EU contributes to the upland farming economy which in turn contributes to all enterprises in rural Wales.
UKIP will take every opportunity to play to people’s fears, even to the extent of deliberately conflating the misery of refugees at camps in Calais with the free movement of European citizens. The former Cheshire MP, Neil Hamilton, must live in a fool’s paradise if he believes that people’s lives in Gwynedd will be improved by Project Euro-fear. It’s not migrants who threaten our economy here, but the untrammelled Tory austerity agenda of the Westminster Government amplified by Labour Welsh Government’s policies of ignoring rural poverty.
Yours etc
Liz Saville Roberts MP
Plaid Cymru Dwyfor Meirionnydd.
