In your edition dated 30 January, I read an article by our Plaid Cymru Westminster MP, Liz Saville Roberts.

Mrs Saville Roberts has called for powers over policing, prisons and the courts to be devolved to Wales and whilst I would agree with a large proportion of what she has to say in favour of Wales having control, there are areas in which serious attention would be necessary if it is to succeed.

Mrs Saville Roberts maintains that there is evidence to show that it would significantly improve the lives of the people of Wales. However, this is not the case in every area of policing in Gwynedd, as I have found to my detriment. It is therefore very important, in my opinion, that once serious discussions regarding devolved policing matters begin, that Mrs Saville Roberts seriously considers communication, engagement and full collaboration with the local community. We must not overlook the vast amount of knowledge, expertise and strength that makes up this constituency, the very attributes Mrs Saville Roberts will need if devolving policing matters is to be successful.
