Madam,

With reference to your headline ‘Renovating derelict church is a waste, say parishioners’ (last week’s Cambrian News), may I point out that the majority of parishioners were delighted to hear that we are at last to have our own place of worship again, and it even got applause after the 10am service.

The “waste” has been caused by the minority of objectors in fees for surveyors and planning permission every time a plan has been submitted over the past 16 years.

Now we will not have the new church hall and presbytery as the majority had voted for but at least it will be in a highly populated area and not on the northern fringes of the town. When previously in use six years ago it was always well-attended and even holiday-makers managed to find it.

Yours etc
