Military veterans and serving personnel across mid and west Wales are being offered free train and bus travel for Remembrance commemorations.

Transport for Wales (TfW) announced on Monday, 2 November, that eligible passengers can travel free on its rail network on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November, and Armistice Day, 11 November.

The offer also covers all TrawsCymru bus services on both days, including routes connecting communities across Ceredigion, Powys and Gwynedd.

Free rail travel will additionally be available on Friday, 6 November, for eligible passengers travelling to and from Cardiff Central to attend TfW's Remembrance service.

Serving Armed Forces personnel travelling in uniform qualify automatically.

Those not wearing uniform, including veterans, must present appropriate identification, such as a MOD90 identity card, Veterans Railcard, Veterans ID Card or proof of a military pension.

TfW said the initiative recognises the service and sacrifice of Britain's Armed Forces community, while helping serving personnel and veterans attend commemorative events.

Passengers are encouraged to check their journeys before travelling.
