A DEDICATED crew of volunteers have braved wind, rain and muddy conditions to salvage tents and sleeping bags abandoned by festival goers.

The camping equipment has been collected by CEFN Cefnogi Ffoaduriaid/Supporting Refugees.

The group’s Logistic co-ordinator, Caron Dukes, said: “Every September we revisit our roots as this how the group started in 2015. Since then CEFN, supported by Mantell Gwynedd and various religious organisations, has developed and sustained a network of wonderful volunteers and drop off points across Meironydd, Dwyfor and Arfon.

“No-one ever envisaged we would still be doing this in 2018 but the need, and the generosity of the public, is as great as ever. NGO’s, and volunteers like us, continue to fill the gaps left by authorities in the provision of aid with dignity to refugees in Greece and France.”

CEFN, and their sister group MWRS, this year collected over 60 tents, sleeping bags and other useful items, which will soon be on their way to provide shelter and warmth to refugees on Lesvos and Calais in time for winter.
