AN EVENT has been held to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Parc Natur Penglais in Aberystwyth.

A Jubilee Walk and Talk, led by support group members was held on Sunday, 15 April to commemorate the founding of the park in 1993.

A horse chestnut tree was planted by Aberystwyth mayor Cllr Steve Davies to mark the occasion, while a commemorative sign was also unveiled by Ceredigion MP Ben Lake.

The reformed and renovated park was opened in 1993 and two years later was officially recognised as a Local Nature Reserve – giving it additional legal protection.

The park was later designated as a UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Urban Nature Reserve, the first in Wales.
