THE third annual Cader Idris trek is taking place this weekend.
In 2015, handy man Matthew Wilkes, based in Tywyn, invited interested parties to join him in clambering up the impressive South Snowdonian peak, a tradition he will keep up on Sunday, 27 August this year.
In his 20s, Matthew was involved in a severe road accident in which he nearly lost his left leg but still enjoys walking and encouraging others to explore the great outdoors.
He is hoping to involve as many people as possible this year, regardless of their level of experience.
He said: “Come see the best of Wales as it needs to be seen.
“The feeling of accomplishment for first-timers is tangible.
“We take it nice and easy with plenty of rest breaks and a picnic at the beautiful Llyn Cae below the towering heights of Craig Cau and Pen-y-Gader.”
The walking group will meet outside Tywyn’s Co-op at 9am.
