Many senior citizen supporters of exiting the EU may have been tempted to vote Conservative until they saw the manifesto.

Theresa May went to war against pensioners. She announced that basic pensions would no longer be protected against falling living standards by abandoning the Triple Lock.

She is going to ‘means test’ the winter fuel allowance that keeps so many pensioners warm. She refused to promise she would properly address the inequity in the new women’s pension qualifying year adjustments and she threatened the continuance of many bus services, devaluing the bus pass.

Not to mention her increased social care costs that many pensioners will have to pay.
