A photographer's first visit to the famous Mach Loop has resulted in jaw-dropping pictures.

Jason Roach was on holiday when he took his photography gear to the network of Welsh valleys used by warplanes for high-speed, low-level flight training.

His pictures from Saturday (19/8) include RAF Typhoons and US Air Force jets zooming past his hill-top position. Jason, from Stanley, County Durham, said: "This was my first time at the Mach Loop whilst on holiday in the area. I got lucky on that day with, I think, fifteen aircraft passes in total."

His pictures from last month include RAF Typhoons and US Air Force jets zooming past his hill-top position.

Jason, from County Durham, said: "This was my first time at the Mach Loop whilst on holiday in the area.

"I got lucky on that day with, I think, fifteen aircraft passes in total.

"There were RAF Typhoons from Coningsby, and USAF F-15E and USAF F-35A from Lakenheath on low-level training.

"I also got a small glimpse of the USAF C-130 Hercules from Mildenhall.

"I had seen pictures taken from a spot to capture low shots over the road. I got lucky with the F15s doing just that."

Jason joked: "One angle of the USAF F-15E appeared to show it racing against some cyclists. I wonder who won?"
