A Llanddewi Brefi man has been charged with inflicting physical violence on dogs over a 14 month period.

Llandudno Magistrates’ Court heard on 23 September that Alun Jones, of Y Ddol, is charged with six counts of causing unnecessary suffering to dogs between 22 December 2024 and 25 February last year.

The 76-year-old, who was not present at the hearing, is charged with cruelty including hitting a dog with sticks, kicking the dog and smacking the dog in the face and using “aversive training techniques including positive punishment and negative reinforcement”.

All the offences are alleged to have taken place at Cae Leon in Tregaron.

Magistrates adjourned the case until a further case management hearing at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on 21 October.
