You reported on 17 June that Andrew R T Davies, leader of the Welsh Conservatives (and no relation), had asked for a Welsh specific pandemic inquiry. This was refused by Mark Drakeford, First Minister.

I believe that most people in Wales are content with the way that the Welsh Government has dealt with the pandemic. They have at all times been cautious, prudent when it was necessary, but have kept us informed at all stages.

Wales has been ahead of the other UK countries with the vaccination programme and Mark Drakeford’s news briefings fill me with the belief that what we are hearing is the truth. If we contrast this with the “chronic dysfunction” in Westminster, as described by Mr Cummings, and the general un-statesmanlike behaviour of Cabinet members we should be very pleased that we live in Wales!
