A Llanrhystud woman is inviting female guests to dig out their wedding dresses for a special charity ball being held as a belated thanks to the hospitals who cared for her dad after he suffered a heart attack.
Simon Macczak, 62, was taken ill just four days before eldest daughter Amanda’s wedding in June 2018.
But following prompt medical attention, first at Bronglais and then at Morriston, he was fitted with two stents which enabled him to walk Amanda down the aisle at Llanrhystud Church just 24 hours after being discharged from hospital!
Now another of Simon’s three daughters, mum-of-three Vicky Evans, is holding the charity wedding dress ball at TyGlyn, Ciliau Aeron, on Saturday, 26 October, to raise funds for the cardiology ward at Bronglais, as well as Ysgol Gynradd Llanarth, which her eldest child attends.
“The consultant in Bronglais rushed dad down to Morriston so he could make it home for the wedding,” Vicky, 34, who now lives in Llanarth, told the Cambrian News.
“He was discharged from Morriston on the Friday night and walked Amanda down the aisle on the Saturday!
“In fact, after leaving hospital he came straight to the church in Llanrhystud with mum for the wedding rehearsal.
“We were so grateful to both hospitals as they knew about the wedding and did everything they could to get him home for it."
Tickets, priced at £25, can be ordered from Vicky on 07969 137607.
