DOLGELLAU’S popular weekly ‘parkrun’ around the Marian took on a different twist on Saturday morning when a wedding party swapped suits for shorts and bucks fizz for a 5k run along the Morfa Mawddach Trail.

Clare Jones and Tom Murray, plus 25 guests decided to do something a little different before their wedding service at Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Church in Dolgellau that afternoon.

Clare who is a kidney specialist and Tom a civil engineer are both working in Toronto on two year posts.

The bride and groom met at College in Wrexham and have both been visiting the Meirionnydd area since childhood.

Tom’s father, Charles, himself a runner, said: “What better way to get the heart pumping and the circulation going before a wedding, although I think there were one or two nodding off in the service”.
