THE FFESTINIOG railway is to hold a volunteer weekend to give people a taste of what it’s like to work on the heritage railway.

Have you ever thought about guarding trains, firing locomotives or working on the track?

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are to hold a volunteer weekend where anyone interested can come along and see for themselves what it takes to keep the locomotives moving.

You don’t need previous experience or special skills as full training will be given.

A spokesperson for the railway said: “After the success of our event last year we are holding a two-day join-in weekend on Saturday and Sunday, 22 and 23 April, when we will take you behind the scenes, show you what you can do and to answer all of your questions.

“There will be something that appeals to everyone and if you are not sure, we will let you have a go.

“Boston Lodge Workshops will be open to show you how you can become involved in working with our historic locos or building new carriages.”
