Madam,
I write in response to the letter in the Cambrian News from your correspondent Mr Phil Griffiths, who claims to be a democrat but who is unhappy for the referendum verdict to be acted upon.
He states that a majority of four per cent is insufficient to be effective.
I would like to point out a precedent which occurred in 1997 here in Wales, when we voted to have a Welsh Assembly by a majority of 0.6 per cent. Yes 0.6 per cent, a much smaller majority, and that from a turnout of 50 per cent (much less than the Brexit vote which was decided on a voter turnout of 62 per cent).
Was Mr Griffiths satisfied on that occasion?
Perhaps he would like to repeat and repeat the referendum until we get a result more in line with his wishes.
Yours etc
