WALES’S national football manager Chris Coleman is to visit Pwllheli this month to help raise funds for the town’s junior football team.
A fundraising event is to take place at the town’s lounge bar, Venu, on Thursday, 25 February at 7pm.
Pwllheli Under 14s manager, Ben Ogilvy, said he was thrilled to secure the former football player to attend the evening.
He said: “I decided to contact Chris Coleman’s PA a few months ago and talks have been on-going for months, he is asked to attend many different events so we are extremely lucky to have managed to get him to come to Pwllheli.
“The main aim of the night will be help raise funds to run the junior section but this will also be a chance for all local Wales supporters to have the opportunity meet Chris as it’s a big year for Welsh football with Chris leading the team to our first major tournament in over 50 years in June.”
Ben’s under 14s team suffered a setback a suffered a setback recently after they faced missing out on a dream drip to Holland to take part in a tournament after Ryan Air cancelled their flights.
The team have received tremendous support since the Cambrian News published their story and have even received a donation from an individual in London who saw their story online and made a donation towards their trip after the football team had to organise alternative flights on another airline. Their manager, Ben, now hopes the visit from the Wales football manager will give the Pwllheli clubs a boost they deserve.
The fundraising event will also feature Morgan Jones of Sgorio who will be hosting the evening.
