I would like to offer my words of support to the reader querying the necessity of blocking off Tanybwlch beach (Letters, 1 May).

It is indeed a large open area where people can easily self-isolate and there can be no justification for taking such prohibitive measures. I have also heard from local people who have been asked to move on when they have simply been sitting in their car by the harbour, admiring the sea view.

I urge everyone to look at what is really happening in America (as it will be heading this way too) and to watch the chilling, prophetic 1984 film based on Orwell’s book. Ask yourself what kind of future world you want to be living in and also ask yourself, why are dozens of new cameras being rolled out everywhere?

While everyone has been locking their front door against Covid-19, a new world order is climbing in through an open window - and it poses a much greater threat to us all.
