Madam,

On Sunday, 19 February, I took a fall at approx 11am. I damaged my knee, which was bleeding profusely, and bumped my head.

I phoned the out-of-hours doctor and was told to go to A&E at Bronglais. Rather than send for an ambulance, I phoned my daughter and she and her partner took me. I was seen within 10 minutes by a nurse who cleaned me up and a doctor who said: “What a mess”. The nurse doused the wound in iodine, ouch! I was then sent for an X-ray (nothing broken).

In the meantime my daughter and partner had a slap-up Sunday lunch in the canteen. When my daughter returned I was being stitched up and heavily bandaged. My head was also thoroughly checked. We were home by 3pm.

What wonderful service and aren’t we lucky in this area to have such wonderful care.

Later a district nurse called to say she would be round the following day. God bless them all I am so grateful.

Yours etc,

Janet Duffee, North Road, Aberaeron.
