Madam,
Reading the Cambrian News of 1 August, it is obvious how many people there are amongst your readership who are disgruntled, dissatisfied, or both.
It is so easy to feel for people who have their parking spaces taken up in such a way and for how long? (‘Complaints as recycling bins block disabled bay’) as well as those complaining about lack of attention to blue bins. The end of the article gave some answers, but not truly uplifting reassurances.
A reader in Fairbourne writes of ignorant drivers, narrow roads and difficult bends. We can certainly underline those hazards in most parts of mid Wales. The headline to the letter speaks for everyone who has to travel or drive: ‘We need to re-think car power and speed deterrents’.
The third letter, from a Mr Louvet, gives details of bus shelters and how they scarcely serve the community in any useful way. The reason the draughts blow every way arose, because when there were bases with corners, they were used in ways not appropriate to being shelters and gathered litter in them as well. The seats were designed to discourage comfort and any dalliance. Will the inference to a “fascist policy” cut any ice and will there be improvements for the travelling public?
An article on page 3 criticises the lack of “visible police” in the area. How many of us feel the same as Louise Hughes? Alas it has been a cry for many years.
The official response giving assurance ‘that Tywyn police station is not closing’ does not address the point Louise Hughes is making and hardly gives any one of us any more restful sleep. With all of these valid points and timely issues we wonder who, in authority, is taking notice? How will any of these issues be adequately addressed and when can we see worthwhile changes?
Yours etc, Jill Baxter, Abergynolwyn.
