I see an impressive picture of a coach on page 8 of today’s paper (11 March). The accompanying paragraphs give interesting facts on the way we are to go.

Alas,the one fact which disturbed me was the “leading battery manufacturer BYD”. Are we really in the position of needing to import batteries from China? Do we not have a business in UK any more, making and dealing in batteries?

Transport personnel will be looking at aspects of new technology and diverse possibilities,we are informed.

It is a matter of “watch this space”.
