I refer to your article and photos of the new-build modern apartments next to Llwyn yr Eos junior school, Penparcau, informing readers of the approval given to Barcud Housing Association for the build.
This leads me to ask why no one is listening to the majority of Penparcau residents who were against this new build as with the closure of Bodlondeb, which attracted massive protests at the time, all to no avail.
Aberystwyth Town Council’s objections on the grounds of its design, supported by hundreds of Penparcau and further afield residents, also those on Facebook describing as completely out of character, and other criticisms of the design and position next to the school - all ignored.
As the Cambrian News wrote,Penparcau county councillor Lloyd Edwards’ objections on the grounds of it not being “in keeping with the site’ and it being an ‘over development of the area’ have also been ignored, when speaking on behalf of so many Penparcau residents.
Cllr Lloyd Edwards has been assured by Ceredigion council officers that ‘the flats are to be built on the footprint of the garages’ - this will be interesting to see!
Yes, there is always a need for these flats, but why does Cllr Dafydd Edwards say the need is in Penparcau as reported, when this need could have been a new build anywhere locally in a more spacious, befitting area?
